Group I

Originally, this group was composed of 5 persons. They fled HO CHI MINH CITY, S.VN. on 8-7-89 and reached HA NOI by bus three days later. On 18-7-89, they came to BINH LIEU by waggon and proceeded to the border check point immediately. Nevertheless, they were stopped and detained by the VN officials for 15 days. Three of them decided to give up the escape and returned to HO CHI MINH. Later on, the remaining two met a Chinese male named 'WANG' () and were led to TONG ZHONG of FANG CHENG XIAN ( Bt the 4 w6) via
城 縣峒中) hill paths on 4-8-89. They stayed there at 'WANG's' house for more than 4 months. They worked as causal workers for him and had earned a total of RMB $200. They left TONG ZHONG on 25-12-89 and went to ZHEN JIANG (1) and eventually called at GUANG MING HUA QIAO FARM, BAO AN XIAN, GUANG DONG SHENG ( (湛
1) after a 2-days' ride. They managed to locate their friend 'LONG' () and stayed with him at the mentioned farm for another 2 months. On 28-2-90, the 2 persons went to YI DUI, JING KOU OVERSEAS CHINESE FARM, SAN SHUI XIAN, GUANG DONG SHENG (** & 2 #1% & t
華僑農場 隊) and were since then accommodated by their relative named 'MO' ( ). During their stay, they were introduced to QUAN TRACH MINH (the ECVII of Group II) and were informed that 'QUAN' lived at ER DUI ( B) of the same farm. They then contributed a total of RMB $2,600 and purchased the exodus junk at DA TANG (±) on 8-3-90. The combined group of three set sail on 10-3-90 and managed to touch MACAO on 14-3-90 due to engine problem. However, the MACAO Marine Police towed them to the open sea and directed them to Hong Kong. They subsequently arrived in Hong Kong in the afternoon of the same day.
