They eventually arrived in Hong Kong at about 2000 hrs. on 16-4-90.

Additional Information

1.

They were all land-crossers via the Sino-Vietnamese border.

2.

Only 3 of them had knowledge of the screening policy. One by letter and two through hearsay.

3.

None of them had knowledge of the mandatory repatriation before departure.

4.

Only 1 of them had heard of the news that they would be placed on a deserted island after their arrival in Hong Kong through hearsay.

5.

Four stopovers in China but had not encountered any PRC officials.

6.

The Sino-Vietnamese border remains normal.

7.

Total number of unaccompanied minors under the age of 18 : 1 (1G).

8.

There were 2 ex-serviceman.

9.

Hong Kong is chosen instead of other countries because of safety reason.

10. They had not committed any offence in Vietnam.

11. They had not encountered other VBP on their way to Hong Kong.
