They sailed towards Hong Kong but at noon on 17-12-1989, their boat was found leaking and almost sunk near the Macao territory. They were rescued by the Macao officials and stayed overnight at Macao. There they were given another 6 M x 2 H wooden motorized vessel and towed out to Open Sea at noon on 18-12-1989. At about 1600 hrs. on the same day, they were intercepted by Hong Kong Police.

Mr. TU was the only member of this group. He first settled in China in 1978. Since April 1989, he had been travelling between China and Vietnam for visiting relatives and friends. He was a distant relative of the boatmaster, CU A SANG. Therefore, he left Vietnam at the same time with Group I on 28-10-1989. His particulars were as follows :
