boatmaster's uncle, they met Group II and started their journey again on 15-12-1989. After a 6-hour bus trip, they arrived at ZHU JIANG (142) where they bought a Chinese junk with a 6 h.p. engine at a cost of RMB $5,500 and 2 taels of gold. They set sail on the same day at about 1600 hrs. and arrived at MACAO 4 hours later. Having replenished with 30 litres of fuel and small amount of foodstuffs, they were immediately towed to Open Sea and directed the way to Hong Kong. Subsequently, they were intercepted by Hong Kong Marine Police 3 hours later.
Group II
Informant : PHONG CHANH CU
This group of 3 persons left HO CHI MINH City, S. VN. on 28-11-1989 by lorry and reached LANG SON on 3-12-1989. There they encountered a Chinese resident named 'NHON', who promised to bring them to GUANG ZHOU #↑ after collecting 0.3 tael of gold from them. Being led by 'NHON' they followed the foot-paths on the hill and reached PING XIANG
) two days later. There they were abandoned by 'NHON'. With the assistance of local folke, they managed to reach SAN SHUI (EK) on 15-12-1989 via NAM NING (
> and XUWEN (徐閒 ). There they stayed overnight in a doss-house." Through
the introduction of the doss-house owner, they met Group I. Having paid 0.9 tael of gold, they were allowed to join Group I. Thereafter, they stayed along with Group I till they arrived at Hong Kong on 17-12-1989.
Additional Information
Two of them had the knowledge of screening policy, one by means of letter and one by means of radio broadcasting (BBC).
