Arrivals on 17.1.90

This boatload of 74 consisted of 73 VBP and 1 ECVII.These 73 VBP left S.VN in small separate groups since Nov.89 by land under the escort of a few Vietnamese couriers. After crossing the Sino-Vietnamese border, they assembled in Jiang Ping) where they picked up the ECVII and bought a motorised sailing junk and set sail for HK on 28.11.89. They had made 7 stopovers in China on their way and were examined by PRC authorities both at Bei Hai () and Bei Sha (7).When they called at Hai An() on 20.12.89, they met another group of 105 VBP on board another boat from Haiphong.By the time they left Hai An after 7 days, this 105 group was still stuck by the engine trouble. The group finally managed to arrive HK on 17/1. Among them, 1 had heard about mandatory repatriation and 17 alleged to have knowledge on screening policy.
