Since the last report, two groups of 20 VBP had arrived. All of them reported to have fled Vietnam for China by land and further made their way to Hong Kong by

One group of 4 left Ho Chi Minh City for Mong Cai near the north border on 28.12.89. They crossed the Sino- Vietnamese land border to Dong Xing (R) in early January. With the help of an ethnic Chinese relative in Dong Xing(), they bought a junk at RMB 5,600 and continued their journey by sea. Their boat left Dong Xing (R) on 13.1.90, stopped over at Shui Dong Gang ) and eventually arrived Hong Kong on 20.1.90. (VRD 8/90)

One group of 16 left Ho Chi Minh City for Langson (4) on 12.12.89. There they were introduced to an unidentified courier who took them across the Sino- Vietnamese land border to Peng Xiang () and Lunzhou (H) at the cost of 30,000 dongs per head.

With the help of a Chinese friend, the group bought a junk at Jian An (##) and set sail for Hong Kong on 20.1.90. They stopped over at Macao for 2 days and reached Hong Kong on 22.1.90. (VRD 9/90)
