This group left HO CHI MINH, S.VN. for HA NOI, N.VN. by train at 1000 hrs. on 7-12-89 under the guidance of a VN male in name of 'LY CAM NGHIA'. They offered a total of 3 taels of gold to this person for leading their way to China. After arriving at HA NOI on 10-12-89, they spent one night there. The next day, They proceeded to HONG GAI, N.VN. where they stayed for about a week pending the arrangement to China. On 17-12-89, they went to MONG CAI, N.VN. where they crossed a river by boat and arrived at DONG XING
), CHINA. During their stay at DONG XING, they were introduced to another VN male (name unknown) for the arrangement of the trip to Hong Kong. They had to pay a total of RMB 1500 for the arrangement. On 20-12-89, they were led to JIANG PING (SI *. ) and boarded a N.VN. type transportation vessel of about 40 tons together with some other people. With a total of 77 people on board, they set off in the morning on 21-12-89. After sailing for 4 days, they encountered engine trouble and later the vessel was wrecked at YING PAN (
