May I seex pl. And pl klime know whether thei exchange takes us or cammilistill further than before
I thank you for your letter of 9 November about the sterling value' of the Hong Kong HMOCS (i.e. overseas) pensions, the contents of which I duly reported at our Executive Committee meeting on 20 November. We were naturally rather disappointed that you had nothing further to report. However our discussion at the meeting was rather pre-empted, as we had been able to take advantage of the presence in London of Sir David Ford, Hong Kong Chief Secretary, to arrange for a meeting with him that afternoon. I enclose for your information a copy of the Record of that meeting. It was most gratifying to receive Sir David's confirmation, as recorded in paragraphs 2 and 5, that the Hong Kong Government and HMG are indeed working together with a view to finding a solution to the loss in the sterling value of Hong Kong pensions.
I do not think that at this stage I need expand on the views which our members expressed at that meeting. We now await the results of the consultations which are going on between you and the Hong Kong Government and your own 'active consideration' Hopefully the new year will see an equitable solution being reached.
Yours sincerely
alla.
