Lord Caithness has asked me to thank you for your
letter of 20 September about various issues of concern to members of your Association. Lord Caithness was glad
to have had the opportunity to meet you and other
representatives of the Superintendent's Association
during his recent visit to Hong Kong and tohave heard your views at first hand.
You raise a number of points which I shall deal with
in turn.
(1) Membership of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service
(HMOCS)
We are giving very careful thought to how we can meet
the concerns of HMOCS members who will be affected by
the change of sovereignty in 1997 but we are not yet
in a position to make an announcement.
