Mr Stone

Another subject which is of utmost concern to our association is the question of how to secure our pension payments.

It has always been the view of the association that pensions are our rights and that the Hong Kong Government, as a good employer, has to

ensure that our rights are safeguarded. One of the best ways to secure the payment of our pensions is to establish a Hong Kong Pensions Fund to be administered jointly by the Hong Kong Government and the Staff Side of the Senior Civil Service Council. A feasible alternative is to freeze the earned pension benefit and to embark on a provident fund scheme. Officers will be able to receive the frozen pensions together with the provident fund at the time they leave the service. These proposals have been raised with the Hong Kong Government on many occasions in the past.

It is deeply regretted that no substantive reply has so far been received.

My Lord, we regret this letter has to be a lengthy one. We hope you will appreciate our disappointment, and indeed our bitterness, over the above issues, and should therefore be grateful if you would give this representation your most careful consideration.

Yours faithfully,

CAB

(S. LAU) Chairman
