Lord Glenarthur called on Lord Caithness yesterday, mainly to talk about defence sales to Brunei.

He would
be going to Brunei in February (after India and Malaysia, and before going on to Hong Kong). Lord Caithness referred to the Sultan's call on the Prime Minister and promised to brief Lord Glenarthur on the outcome.

Lord Glenarthur said that as regards sales to Thailand there had been no further developments since the DESO mission.
There was some discussion of defence sales in Korea. Lord Caithness referred to the importance of having competent sales staff permanently based in countries where British Aerospace hope to do business. During his recent visit HMA Seoul had referred to the poor quality of British Aerospace representation in Korea. Their people there seemed uninterested in recognising and following up the right contacts. This would undoubtedly prejudice further sales.
