1. At the QBP on 15 June I was able to have a quick chat with Lu Ping. I asked Lu if he was likely to be visiting Hong Kong soon. He said no, but that he was hoping to visit Hong Kong again before the end of the year, possibly in November. He would not be drawn further, so I contented myself with assuring him that he would always be welcome.
2. Lu also told me that much of the HKMO's time was now taken up with Macao, although the division still remained about 50-50. A major problem in drafting the Macao BL was that all the laws in Macao were in Portuguese, and there were no Chinese translations. Getting the laws translated was difficult because very few ethnic Chinese living in Macao spoke Portuguese.
