Your Excellency,

My visit to Hong Kong was an enlightening experience. I aware of the achievements that Hong Kong has made in recent years, but I can only appreciate the magnitude by seeing them through my own eyes. In this regard, I must thank you for the arrangements you made which permitted me to move about the City with minimum hindrances. I also appreciated the
opportunity to
to meet privately with you over dinner and trust that the hopes we expressed for the future of Hong Kong and Shanghai will become a reality.
I said on various occasions during my visit t.o Hong Kong that I do see a significant commonality. of interests between Hong Kong and Shanghai. The two cities can complement each other and each can benefit greatly from the progress of the other. I believe that anything that can be done to foment cooperation is a valuable investment.
Once again. thank you for your hospitality and I hope that I can. one day, welcome you on a visit to Shanghai,
