These are the details of my proposed visit to Hong Kong next November ( 3-17). You will, I am sure, remember that I phoned your Desk last week concerning financial support for the visit. You agreed
to make inquiries on my behalf.
I have been invited by Dr N.J.Miners, the head of the Political Science Department, to give two papers to his students, and one paper at the request of Prof Lee Ngok, to the staff of the Deaprtment of
Extra-Mural Studies.
While in the Colony I will also visit as many as possible of the Welsh community to see what preparations they are making for 1997. This material will be used for radio and t.v. BBC Wales have already shown an interest and suggested that I should think in terms of two 1⁄2 hour length programmes. I am also taking to Harlech t.v. about a documentary on the subject.

As I said on the phone, I have approached the obvious foundations for funding with little success: only the Welsh Office of the British Council has responded favourably. The Commonwealth Relations Trust, and others, are not interested in such a short visit, or use their funds to support visits to this country. If you and your colleagues could think of other sources I could apply to, I would be most grateful
