It has been agreed that no official gifts will be exchanged during this visit.

16 CLIMATE AND CLOTHING

Likely temperatures in the middle of January are maximum 19C, minimum 13C. Relative humidity: 70 per cent. There is a possibility of light rain. Lounge suits are suggested for day and evening wear.

17 FINANCE

a) FCO costs, plus common service costs, eg hiring of transport, office machinery etc, will be charged to FCO Vote A1 (1) (U) (2). Others will be charged to parent departments as follows:

Members of the party accommodated at Government House will receive one-third of the appropriate rate of subsistence.

ii) Mrs Hurd will receive three-quarters of that paid to the

Secretary of State.

iii) Members of the party staying at the Furama Hotel will be

on Conference terms, ie the British Trade Commission will pay the cost of the suite/rooms, standard breakfast, service and taxes, and each person will receive half the Class A rate of subsistence to cover all other expenses.

iv) Where detectives are staying in the Furama Hotel, the

British Trade Commission will pay the cost of the room, service and tax only, debiting the Metropolitan Police. Otherwise, the detectives will provide their own

subsistence.
