Hong Kong committed to comply in full with CITES ban. reservation designed to give territory a reasonable period in which to adjust to this by allowing traders to dispose of stocks in orderly fashion and 3000 ivory carvers and workers to find other
employment.
In meantime, Hong Kong has banned all imports of ivory into Hong Kong which will ensure that there is no loophole for entry of illegal ivory onto market.
