PRO-DEMOCRACY ACTIVISTS IN HONG KONG
1. My teleletter of 11 July reported a demonstration outside the Embassy by the Alliance of Hong Kong Chinese in the United States. On that occasion representatives of the Alliance asked that we transmit a letter to Sir David Wilson about the
prosecution of the pro-democracy activists. Hong Kong replied on 23 July.
2. On 28 July the Alliance organised another small demonstration outside the Embassy and handed in the enclosed petition. They did not ask to meet anyone from the Embassy, nor urged that their case be taken up with the Hong Kong Government. May I leave it to you (and Stephen Bradley, to whom I am copying this letter) to decide whether any further reply is necessary?
