You may be aware that agreement has been reached with the Security Service for the safe keeping of Special Branch records in London. Not included in the agreement are the less voluminous, but none the less sensitive records relating to the run down of Special Branch. In essence these will identify Special Branch staff, their immediate families, addresses, undertakings arrangements and details of compensation. I believe they should eventually be moved to the United Kingdom and could be useful, at least in the early post-1997 years, in the event that HMG's Consulate here must deal with former Special Branch staff who remain in or return to the Territory. I should be grateful for guidance as to where the records could most suitably be deposited.
