The Embassy's advice is contained in Peking telno 1743. have subsequently received Shanghai telno 59, which sheds further light on the case. In particular, the manager of the company
concerned has made it clear that he is not at present too concerned
at the conduct of the investigation and does not wish us to take
action which might escalate matters.
This confirms the advice
submitted in my minute of 7 August.
