to strengthen the effectiveness of demand reduction policies through the exchange of experience and expertise of individual governments and non-governmental organisations; and
4)
to identify ways in which international drugs co-operation can most effectively be targetted to reduce the demand for cocaine and to combat its production and trafficking.
The Government of the United Kingdom, and the United Nations Organization will agree upon the agenda, the method of work and upon the selection of
speakers. To this end a joint steering committee has been established comprising officials of the UK Government, the United Nations Vienna-based drugs units and the World Health Organization.
5.
The Government of the United Kingdom will be responsible for:
a)
meeting entirely the administrative costs of the Conference. This
will include:
providing the venue, equipment and administrative personnel for
the Summit;
covering the costs of simultaneous interpretation: (i) in the six United Nations official languages for the plenary sessions and meetings of the Demand Reduction Expert Committee, if
required by the attendance of relevant ministers, i.e. Arabic,
Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish; and (ii) for
meetings of the Cocaine Expert Committee simultaneous
interpretation provided in English, French and Spanish;
governmental delegation may speak in any other language if it
provides interpretation itself into one of the official language s
