Discovery orders
20. (1)
Subject to this section, the High Court may, on
application by or on behalf of the Attorney General, by order (in
this section referred to as a "discovery order") require a person
specified in the order (in this section referred to as "the specified
person") to furnish
-
(a)
to the Attorney General or to an authorized officer
specified in the order;
(b)
within the time specified in the order,
a written statement containing the information set out in subsection
(4) or such part of that information as is specified in the order.
(2) The High Court shall not make a discovery order unless it
is satisfied that there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that
the specified person has carried on or has benefited from drug
trafficking.
(3) A discovery order may be made on an ex parte application to
a judge in chambers.
