A group of local draft were seeking to propose a new compromise on the post-1997 political structure, the HK Standard reported.
The paper, quoting a source, said that the model, dubbed as the "3-3-2-2′′ model, suggested that the, future legislature should have 30 per cent of its members returned by direct elections, 30 per cent from functional constituencies, 20 per cent from an electoral college of district boards and municipal councils, and the remaining 20 per cent from a grand electoral college.

The paper said that the new model was more conservative than the "4-4-2" model designed among the business group, the moderates and the liberals, as well as the composite model proposed by some members of the business group.
The source said it was too early to say which model would be more acceptable to local or mainland drafters. It was understood that local drafters on the special group on political Structure would meet informally prior to the Guangzhou meetings this month to thrash out their differences.

(Legco member Ho Sai-chu urged HK people not to get involved in: ¿political activities in China in order not to jeopardise the future of HK under the "one country, two systems" policy, some papers reported.
Speaking at a graduation ceremony at the Polytechnic, Mr Ho said that the future HK SAR would be set up in accordance with the Joint Declaration. .
Mr Ho believed that if the "one country, two systems" concept was effectively and faithfully put into practice, HK's economy would continue to prosper. He expected that in the long run, HK not only could maintain its constitutional and economic autonomy but could also continue to become an international commercial centre. He called on HK people to remember the principle of "one country; two systems" and to respect the other system.
