I refer to a letter recently referred to us from
Mr. A.M.H. WONG of the Hong Kong Fost Office dated 23.2.89 addressed to Chief Engineer Mr. FENG Xi-feng of the Guangdong Province Broadcasting and Television Department. The letter elaborates on the issue
of building a 100W mid-wave transposer station in Chung Hom Kok, Hong Kong, involving coordination work at 1584 KHz. After sun.
we find that the above project when completed will affect the aration of our Guangzhou Station and Bao An Station of the same frequenc listed in the long-wave and mid-wave plan, kegions 1 and 3, 101 However, in order to improve the mid-wave coverage of the Hor Kong broadcasting on the southern part of Hong Kong, we agre the building of a 100W mid-wave transposer station in Chung Kok, Hong Kong, utilizing the frequency 1584 KHz. As regards coordinations of BBC's short-wave transposer station in Hong Kong. Director CAI Hul of the Guangdong Province Broadcasting and Television Department had advised the liong Kong Post Office in a letter in 1988 that all issues involving the mid-wave and short-wave broadcasting coordination in future should be referred to us direct. We also like to take this opportunity to reiterate Mr. CAI's statement in his letter to the Hong Kong Post Office dated 4 June 1986 regarding our government's position in this matter, which is, if the BBC transposer station is to go beyond 1997. it will be an issue between the China and the British government.
