THE FUTURE OF COMMERCIAL RADIO BROADCASTING

THE PROBLEM

The

current licence of

Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company Limited ("CRHK") is due to expire on 25 August 1989. The Company has written to the Government to apply for a new or renewed licence, for such such terms and conditions as the Government appropriate. In the light of the imminent licence, the Administration has consulted Authority ("BA") regarding the future of commercial radio broadcasting in Hong Kong.

There are three authorised sound broadcasting organisations in Hong Kong Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) CRHK and the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS). latter serves mainly British Forces stationed in Hong Kong.
