i) Local Rebroadcasts.
Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) relays the BBC MANDARIN News Bulletin 1200 - 1210 GMT daily on its Radio 1 channel, and the BBC's 1300 - 1330 GMT CANTONESE transmission, again daily.
RTHK is in the process of planning a new schedule for its Radio 5 channel, due to be implemented on December 1st 1989, which it is hoped will incorporate substantially more of the BBC's daily transmissions, both in Mandarin and in Cantonese. Radio 5 is hoping to get a Medium Wave frequency, which would mean the signal would be audible well beyond the borders of Hongkong.
ii) Special Projects.
Three taped programmes are prepared each week in MANDARIN. Two are made up from material already broadcast on shortwave:
"Arts Review" - (15') for Radio Brunei.
"Science News" (15') for Radio Kuching (Sarawak)
-
The third is a weekly Current Affairs magazine, "World Report", prepared specially for Radio Brunei. The costs for tapes, postage and packaging are recovered from the Radio Stations.
