Thank you for your letter of 26 July. I very much
appreciated your expression of congratulations on my
appointment.
I regret that I did not have an opportunity to follow
through your letter about the automatic engine project in
Tianjin. I am sure however that my successor in the DTI
will be doing so

subject for an interview for the Hong Kong Standard and
I am flattered that you should consider that I already
'know' Hong Kong.
But I think it would be a little
premature for me
to give a one-to-one interview before
I have had the chance to read myself into the subject.
