For your information, I enclose copies of letters sent today to John Major and Francis Maude inviting them to speak at the next Sunday Times Breakfast Forum now proposed for Wednesday 29th November on the subject of:
"Passports and promises: Is Britain really standing by Hong Kong?"

I had already extended this invitation to them both for 7th November (I was liasing with Mr Whitehead) but I understand that both will be on foreign engagements that day.
Since our original invitation, the royal visit to Hong Kong has been confirmed thus preventing many of our invited speakers from attending on the 7th. Consequently we have moved the date.
I do hope that the 29th November proves more convenient. If you would like any further information on the Forum please do not hesitate to contact me.
