INFORMATION THEMES : MONTHLY STRATEGY MEETING
1.
At our third monthly meeting on 17 February we agreed that since drafts for the February issue of Bull Points had not all been in the required form, the first full issue should be in March, and that we would add "British aid" to the list of themes.
2.
We reviewed the state of play on each theme and revised the schedule (attached). This shows where responsibility lies for producing the March issue. Contributions in the agreed format should reach Miss Hunt (Information Dept) by 7 March. The complete set will then issue in the week of 13 March.
3. We discussed how to give maximum coverage to the Secretary of State's speeches and interviews on foreign policy issues. We agreed that Planning Staff and News Department should give early consideration to this point after delivery/publication, and advise Information Department on the basis of a proforma of options to be devised by Miss Hunt in consultation with Mr Butt. The options would include:
(a) standard verbatim treatment of standard speeches
(b) a summary of major points in a speech, preferably drafted in
advance, which could be issued as a covering note to the verbatim text
(c) a printed booklet of a major speech.
4. I propose that we hold our next planning meeting on Friday, 17 March at 11am in the Planners' conference room.
