I have the honour to
discussions held between the representatives of the
Government of Japan and of
of the Government of Hong Kong
concerning the supply of equipment for the Audio Visual
Library of the Department of Japanese of the University of
Hong Kong (hereinafter referred to as "the Equipment") to
the University of Hong Kong, and to propose on behalf of
the Government of Japan the following arrangements:
1. For the purpose of providing degree level education in
the Japanese language and
Japanese Studies at the
University of Hong Kong, the Government of Japan shall
extend to the Government of Hong Kong, in accordance with
the relevant laws and regulations of Japan, a grant up to

2. The Grant shall be used by the Government of Hong Kong
properly and exclusively for the purchase of the
Equipment, which will be products of Japan, and of
services necessary for the transportation of the Equipment
to ports in Hong Kong.
