Dear Mr. Morris,
The Estate of the Late S.K. Tang
I was delighted with the information which you gave me last week concerning the late Mr. Tang's estate. On behalf of the Institute, I should like to express our gratitude that we have been selected to benefit from Mr. Tang's very generous charitable bequest for medical purposes.
You indicated in the course of our telephone conversation that you would be arranging for us to receive one third of the net residuary estate, together with accumulated interest thereon from the date of Mr. Tang's death in 1986. You also told me that. Mr. Tang's Will provides for the retention in perpetuity of the capital sum so to be paid to us but enables the annual income therefrom to be applied for the general purposes of the Institute in connection with its work of cancer treatment and research.
I understand that your Legal Department will produce some form of document relating to the bequest and when you send this to me for perusal,.I shall be grateful if you will also let me have a copy of the late Mr. Tang's Will, please. It does occur to me that if the Will contains clear directions as to how the bequest is to be dealt with, your lawyers may feel it necessary only to seek from the Institute some form of undertaking that we will observe the Testator's expressed wishes.
When you are in a position to transfer the funds to us, would you please send us a cheque made payable to "The Institute of Cancer Research".
Alternatively, if the payment is being made direct from Hong Kong, then I think that the simplest method of transfer would be by direct payment to our bank account, details of which are as follows:-
