1. I submit a copy of a report produced by the Hong Kong Government, summarising the impact on Hong Kong of the events of 3/4 June. It brings together the Hong Kong Government's own data,
the results of some private sector surveys, and anecdotal evidence. The photographs enclosed with the report are particularly striking.
2.
The report has been given very limited circulation in Hong
Kong. Mr Maude might find the report of interest, with his meeting
next week with Dame Lydia Dunn in mind. I am not sure whether
Dame Lydia has seen the report. It would therefore be better not to refer to it in the course of the meeting.
