Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the draft exchange of notes attached to your faxed letter of 4 May.
I have no comment on the UK note which is along agreed lines. I would suggest however that para. 2 of the Bruneian reply be amended as follows :
(a) in line 2, amend "proposals" to "proposal" (a typo);
(b)
(c)
in lines 14-18, delete "and that the text Brunei Darussalam". This is not called for and appears to add nothing useful to the note apart, possibly, from the date of signature of the
ASA.
If the Bruneians wish to refer to this, I would suggest amending line 10 to read
!!
to have effect on 9 January 1989, the date on ...";
in line 20, "our two Governments" should read "our respective aeronautical authorities" in order to pick up the more accurate language of the UK note.
FCO legal advisers will also no doubt wish to have the opportunity to comment if they have not already been given this.
