I have the honour to refer to the Exchange of Letters dated
21 June 1986 between the British High Commissioner and the Minister
of Communications of Brunei Darussalam about air services between
Hong Kong and Bandar Seri Begawan and to the Exchange of Letters dated 1 January 1984 between the British High Commissioner and
the Acting State Secretary of Brunei Darussalam.
2. The United Kingdom aeronautical authorities have noted
that the aeronautical authorities of Brunei Darussalam and of
Hong Kong have negotiated a draft Air Services Agreement. This Agreement has now been concluded and entered into force on
9 January 1989.

In these circumstances I have the honour to propose that the understanding between the United Kingdom aeronautical

authorities and the aeronautical authorities of Brunei Darussalam
recorded in the Exchange of Letters of 21 June 1986 and the
understanding in relation to services between Hong Kong and
Bandar Seri Begawan recorded in the Exchange of Notes of 1 January 1984
will be deemed to have ceased to have effect on the date on which
the Brunei Darussalam/Hong Kong Air Services Agreement entered into
force.
4. If this proposal is acceptable to you I have the honour to propose that this letter and your reply to that effect will place on record the understanding of our respective aeronautical
authorities on this matter which will come into operation on the
date of Your Excellency's reply.
5. I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency
the assurance of my highest consideration.
