I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 13th May, 1989 concerning the Exchange of Letters dated 21st June 1986 between the British High Commissioner and the Minister of Communications of Brunei Darussalam about air services between Hong Kong and Bandar Seri Begawan and to the Exchange of Letters dated 1st January 1984 between the British High Commissioner and the Acting State Secretary of Brunei Darussalam.

In reply, I have the honour to state that the proposal contained in paragraph 3 of your above quoted letter, that is to say that your proposal
proposal that the understanding between the United Kingdom aeronautical authorities and the aeronautical authorities of Brunei Darussalam recorded in the Exchange of Letters of 21st June 1986 and the understanding in relation to services between Hong Kong and Bandar Seri Begawan recorded in the Exchange of Notes of 1st January 1984 will be deemed to have ceased to have effect on the date on which the Brunei Darussalam/Hong Kong Air Services Agreement entered into force, is acceptable to the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and that the text of the said Air Services Agreement which was concluded, signed and entered into force on 9th January
January 1989 has been approved by the aeronautical authorities of Brunei Darussalam. Accordingly, I further have the honour to confirm that your letter and this reply will place on record the understanding of our respective aeronautical authorities on this matter which will come into effect today.
