DECISION
The Council ADVISED and the Governor ORDERED
that
(a)
a
to
decision paper on the general policy
be adopted by the Administration in
the light of the decisions reached at
the CITES 1989 Conference, should be
Council on 7 November
submitted to the
1989.
The paper
should also propose
measures to be
taken to assist workers
in the trade; and
(b) the trade should not be encouraged to
believe that Hong Kong would not abide
by the CITES decision which would in
effect, require all CITES parties in
ivory to render international trading in
ivory, illegal by 18 January 1990.
