Annex A
Suggested Amendments to CITES Proposal
(Annex AI and AII) to uplist African elephant (Loxodonta africana) to Appendix I of the Convention
"Proposal Transfer of Loxodonta africana
from Appendix II to Appendix I of the Convention whilst permitting the commercial trade in the ivory stocks of this species which have already been exported out of their countries of origin before 9th October 1989 in accordance with the CITES Ivory Control Procedure. Trading in the above stocks will be subject to strict controls as stipulated in the CITES Ivory Control Procedure but exempted from the restrictions under Resolution Conf. 5.11 adopted in the fifth Conference of the parties to the Convention."
