The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of

course works closely with the DOE on the various

international aspects of HMG's policy, such as Hong Kong,

and in explaining and promoting Britain's policy in

overseas countries. But DOE's responsibilities as the UK

CITES Management Authority gives them a key role in

developing UK policy on the African Elephant. It was for

that reason that your question was transferred to the

DOE.

responsibilities of the two departments.
