We have been in touch with the Hong authorities
Kong about OLIT decision to ban trade in ivory and the reasons for it. The Hong Kong Government share our concern have already suspended the issue of new import licences 3.13 respect of raw ivory from all sources, pending the outcome of the CITES Conference. Furthermore, they have begun to register and all raw ivory and large cut pieces legally imported before January 1986. (From January 1986 onwards, all these stocks are already registered and marked, > They have also created a special task force to investigate and suppress any illegal imports and exports of ivory through Hong Kong.
