Import of Killer Whale from Japan
We are still being pressed by Ocean Park
to permit them to import a killer whale from Japan. DAF sought the further views of the UK cites authorities on 30 November 1988. On 4 January they replied
to the effect that they are consulting colleagues
in the (UK) Ministry of Agriculture on IWC considerations.
MAFF's views (contained in their unnumbered telegram of 14 September) seem pretty explicit but we would like to know whether Ocean Park's 'appeal' (details of which have been faxed to them) contain any material likely to cause them to change their
stance.
Grateful if you could urge MAFF to respond.
