"Desar Robert,
Import of Killer Whale from Japan
DAF has now received advice, dated 1 February,
from the UK CITES Management Authority to the effect that
"The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food have now confirmed that they
do not wish to alter their previous advice given on this matter."
The particular points referred to in my fax dated 31 January were not covered it is quite likely that the two papers crossed in transmission.
DAF is now inclined to issue the necessary Import licence.
Before he does so, would it be possible to check verbally with MAFF on those points and
so whether they consider Ocean Park's claim (see tached letter) that "the whale is intended for conservation, breeding, education and exhibition purposes" is of any merit.
