Ivory Trade Line To Take

HK has always complied fully with its obligations under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), with regard to all endangered species. This includes controls on

trade in ivory.

2.

HKG closely monitoring policies and practices of other Government and trends in world opinion. Have seen

recent UK Government statement.

3.

Have put in hand an urgent study of the implications

for if the CITES meeting in October decides to endouse the idea of stricter controls-on ivory trade.

4.

Will be ready to participate fully in CITES meetings in July and October to discuss the subject.
