COPYRIGHT LAW REVIEW: PARALLEL IMPORTATION
We understand that the Law Reform Commission is considering amendments to the Copyright Act of Hong Kong, and has been examining the provisions regarding infringing importation.
The ability to protect exclusive publishing rights in Hong Kong against importation of infringing copies is of crucial importance to authors and publishers, and we have therefore prepared the enclosed submissions, which we would be grateful if you would be kind enough to put before the Law Reform Commission urging the importance of the continued protection of the exclusive publishing right. We very much hope the Commission will agree that any change to the Copyright Law of Hong Kong would be inappropriate.
We would be very happy to answer any queries the Commision may have on the submissions, and if you would like me, or another representative of the PA, to meet the Law Reform Commission, we would be very happy to do so.
