the Order is made. As the Order does not refer to Taiwan as a country, nor to Taiwanese but to Chinese citizens and subjects resident or domiciled in the territory of Taiwan, we it likely that the Chinese will react
do not think unfavourably.
FINANCIAL AND STAFFING IMPLICATIONS
15
There are no financial or staffing implications.
PUBLIC CONSULTATION
16
No specific public consultation has taken place, but the eight organisations or companies with copyright interests have made their views known.
PUBLIC REACTION
17
If there is no official Chinese reaction to the extension, the public at large is unlikely to be interested, but local copyright owners will welcome the proposal.
PUBLICITY
18
A press release will be issued when the UK legislation extending the Order to Hong Kong has been passed. A Legislative Council brief will also be issued. The legal profession, and representative organisations of copyright interests will be advised separately.
