A BILL
To
Amend the Banking Ordinance.
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
Short title and commencement
1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Banking (Amendment) Ordinance 1989.
(2) This Ordinance shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 April 1989.
Fees
2. The Second Schedule to the Banking Ordinance (Cap. 155) is amended-
(a) by repealing items 2 to 5 and substituting—

The purpose of this Bill is to amend the Second Schedule to the Banking Ordinance to give effect to the proposals in the 1989 Budget to increase the fees payable by deposit-taking companies.
2. The Bill has no Public Service staffing implications. It is estimated that imple- mentation of the proposals will result in additional general revenue of approximately $3 million in 1989-90.
