The Netherlands. The Netherlands will probably continue to maintain small forces in the Caribbean, the present levels including 400 marines, a guardship and two maritime surveillance aircraft. The emphasis in any Netherlands contribution to operations OOA is likely to be maritime, since both the army and air force will probably remain wholly committed to the continental land/air battle. However, the army may well retain a parachute-trained commando force, currently 500 strong. The air force, like its Belgian counterpart, will remain essentially tactical. The RNLN is unlikely to change its operational emphasis which is on ASW
and mine-warfare.
