IMPLEMENTING CODEWORD

138. An implementing codeword is allocated to each Part 2 plan. Its meaning is the Services assisted evacuation of British and friendly nationals from the country concerned in accordance with the current plan.

139. The codeword, when used alone, is UNCLASSIFIED, but the plan itself is classified according to its content, and the meaning of the codeword carries the same classification.

140. The codeword is not to be used before the issue of a warning order or an order to implement the plan. Until this time the plan is always to be referred to by its Joint Theatre Plan number, not the codeword.

141. The circumstances leading to the implementation of the plan will be public knowledge and there may be no need to conceal the facts of Service assistance in evacuation. In this event the MOD, after consultation with the FCO, will authorise a lower security grading, or declassification of the meaning of the codeword and appropriate elements of the plan.
