(4) When there are adequate facilities at the evacuation airfield(s), plans will make optimum use of this type of aircraft. Subject to performance considerations, the VC10 can carry a maximum of 141 passengers with up to 44 lb (20 kg) of baggage per person. operations necessitate the use of double crews, the capacity is limited to 109 passengers.
b. Hercules (C130).

(4) Although the Hercules is not normally used for the carriage of civilian passengers, it may be necessary to use this type should the urgency of the situation demand the use of all available transport aircraft, or performance constraints preclude the use of VC10. In certain circumstances Hercules may be employed for moving evacuees to the nearest airfield acceptable for VC10 operations.
(5) Subject to performance considerations, the Hercules CMk1 can carry 68 passengers with up to 44 lb (20 kg) of baggage per person or 90 passengers with minimal baggage. The Hercules CMK3 can carry a total of 94 passengers with up to 44 lb (20 kg) of baggage or 126 passengers with minimal baggage.
C. Tristar. RAF Tristar aircraft may be available on an opportunity basis, as tasked, b
by MOD. The passenger capacity depends on the
configuration
d. Civil Aircraft. In some scenarios, it may be necessary to supplement RAF airlift with civil aircraft. Their availability is assumed to be as shown at Annex B. MOD (Log (Mov)1) will provide up-to-date information on actual availability at the time of implementation.

Helicopters.
(1) Up to 4 Chinooks with 7 crews and/or 6 Pumas with 10 crews may be made available for airlift of evacuees from areas which are inaccessible to fixed wing aircraft.

The availability of Tristar K1 and KC1 aircraft will fluctuate until the aircraft modification programme is completed in 1989. As they become available, the K1 will carry 200 passengers and the KC1 will carry 188 passengers. Am Tristars in the Air Transport Force (ATF) role can carry approximately 265 passengers.
