20. The Chairman asked CBF to brief the meeting on the progress made in the expansion plans for the Maritime Police (MARPOL). SO2 3 J3 Ops HQ BFHK replied on behalf CBF. He

said that the plans were proceeding on schedule with the

exception of those for the introduction of the Sector

Control Launches. There were 2 problem areas; the 2 craft already in service had proved to have poor sea-keeping qualities and an unsatisfactory record of serviceability.

The Hong Kong Government had commissioned maritime

consultants to conduct studies into the problems but it was
