DIPLOMATIC CONFERENCE FOR THE CONCLUSION OF A TREATY ON THE PROTECTION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN RESPECT OF INTEGRATED CIRCUITS: WASHINGTON, 8-26 MAY 1989
Thank you for your letter of 18 April, agreeing to the inclusion of a Hong Kong representative in your delegation to the above conference. I see no difficulty with what you propose and have telegraphed Hong Kong and Peking accordingly.
I suggest that you make reference to Hong Kong in your submission in the following terms:
"The delegation will also include Miss Averil Waters,
Deputy Principal Solicitor in the Registrar General's Department of the Hong Kong Government, who also participated in last year's conference in Geneva. The Hong Kong Government is keen to play a more active international role in providing protection for intellectual property rights, and it is intended that Hong Kong will be able to participate in its own right after 1997."
Yours Sincerely Alan Panc
A R Paul
