SEVENTH SESSION OF THE COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS ON THE HARMONISATION OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS IN LAWS FOR THE PROTECTION OF
INVENTIONS
You will remember that there was correspondence earlier this year about Hong Kong participation in the UK delegation at the Washington conference in May on the conclusion of a treaty on the protection of intellectual property in respect of integrated circuits. You very kindly agreed to accept Miss Waters, Assistant Registrar General from Hong Kong, as a member of your delegation.
I now attach a telegram number 2873 in which Hong Kong are requesting that Miss Waters and one other be allowed to attend the above mentioned Geneva conference again as part of the UK delegation
You will note that on this occasion they have asked that the delegates be allowed to speak, if necessary. The formula proposed in paragraph 4 of the telegram is standard when Hong Kong is represented in a UK delegation at international conferences.
You are, of course, aware from the earlier exchanges, of the importance that is placed on ensuring Hong Kong's participation in international conferences and organisations (Alan Paul's letter to you of 14 April refers). We therefore welcome Hong Kong's proposal and give it our full support?
